Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia.
It’s as important a day as any to be clear that – should I earn the privilege to represent the citizens of St. Catharines at the Regional Council table – I will work to represent everyone.
This last term of Council has proven to not be especially inclusive, either in making exclusionary remarks outrightly, or in not speaking out against or properly censuring those who have made those remarks.
Politicians can’t be on the correct side of every issue (in the eyes of the people), but this is not only an extremely simple issue but also an extremely important issue to be on the correct side of.
No one should ever feel excluded or unwelcome in our city. Everyone should feel seen, heard, and welcome.
